Ford is set to accept reservations for the all-electric Mustang Mach-E in Australia beginning next week, in anticipation of the vehicle’s local debut later this year.
The first allocation of vehicles coming to Australia will hit the production line imminently with local shoppers being offered three different variants. These consist of the Select, Premium, and GT, the first of which is powered by a 71 kWh battery pack and an electric motor at the rear with 198 kW (265 hp) and 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) of torque. This model should be able to travel as far as 470 km (292 miles) on a single charge.
Local shoppers in the market for an EV boasting more range and power would be wise to opt for either the mid-range Mach-E Premium or the flagship Mach-E GT. The first of these versions has a slightly more powerful electric motor at the rear wheels, producing 216 kW (290 hp) and 430 Nm (317 lb-ft), while being fed by a 91 kWh battery. This variant has the highest range of the three and should be able to travel as far as 600 km (373 miles) as per the WLTP cycle.

Then there is the Mustang Mach-E GT. It also has a 91 kWh battery pack with a pair of electric motors that combine to deliver 358 kW (480 hp) and 860 Nm (634 lb-ft) of torque. The presence of an electric motor at the front axle reduces its WLTP range to 490 km (304 miles) but it is by far the most accelerative Mustang Mach-E heading Down Under, capable of hitting 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.7 seconds including a 1-foot rollout.
Unfortunately, Ford Australia won’t release local pricing details until reservations open on May 10. Local industry experts suggest it will start at around AU$70,000 – AU$75,000 ($47,097 – $50,461) for the Mach-E Select while the Mach-E GT will likely be priced from roughly AU$100,000 ($67,282) to AU$110,000 ($74,010).
