A jaw-dropping 1988 Lamborghini Countach that has spent most of its life living in the U.S. has appeared for sale and could very well be the perfect 1980s mid-engined supercar.

The car is currently auctioned through Cars & Bids and is one of just 631 examples of the 5000 QV that were ever produced. It was delivered new to an official Lamborghini importer in New York in January 1988 and remained stateside until 2010 when it was exported by a Danish collector. It was then sold to a German collector in 2014 who had it converted to European specification. It has since been brought back to the U.S.

Every Lamborghini Countach to have rolled out of the firm’s factory is special but the glorious Giallo Fly yellow paint adorning the exterior makes this one particularly stunning. It also retains the original 15-inch OZ Racing staggered wheels and while the listing notes there are some small paint chips, the overall condition of the car looks to be excellent.

It is not just the yellow paint that’s to love. The cabin is clad in a shade of chocolate brown known as Testa di Moro which really adds to the car’s unique appeal. By modern standards, the interior is very basic but it does have an Alpine head unit and audio system. However, the soundtrack produced by the naturally-aspirated 5.2-liter V12 engine is no doubt enough to keep any future owner entertained without them having to listen to Spotify.

A handful of modifications have been made to the car. These include European-spec side reflectors, a European-spec front bumper with Carello fog lights, the removal of the ugly rear bumperettes, and a new Ansa Marmitte exhaust. It has been driven 17,300 km (~10,800 miles). At the time of publishing, the highest bid on Cars&Bids stands at $350,000, with four days remaining until the auction’s conclusion.
