The KG Mobility era of SangYong is well underway, and the automaker has started reshuffling its lineup in Korea, adding new and updated models. KG Mobility recently launched the updated Rexton Sports Culmen, a rugged SUV-based pickup, sold as the Musso in export markets.
The current generation of the Rexton Sports / Musso has been around since 2018, so it was time for a facelift. The updated pickup benefits from a redesigned face which finally adopts the slimmer LED headlights of the mechanically related Rexton SUV. There is also a fresh chrome-infused grille and a new bumper sporting LED foglights, a heavier dose of plastic cladding, and aluminum-style plastic trim around the lower intake.

The rest of the bodywork remains largely unchanged but thankfully it still looks fairly modern thanks to the sculpted fenders and the rugged details. The company also added new alloy wheel designs, measuring 17 inches, 18 inches, or 20 inches for the flagship trim. Interestingly, KG Mobility keeps offering the pre-facelifted model as the Rexton Sports – without the Culmen moniker.
Interior updates include a free-standing 12.3-inch infotainment screen that replaces the old 8-inch unit and is combined with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The dashboard has been redesigned to accompany the new display, gaining slimmer air vents, touch-sensitive climate controls, 32-color ambient lighting, and USB-C charging ports. Upholstery options for the five-seater cabin include synthetic leather or Nappa leather / suede available in black or khaki shades. Safety equipment is upgraded with six airbags and plenty of ADAS. The KG Mobility Rexton benefited from similar updates, although the exterior design remained virtually unchanged.
Under the bonnet lies the same 2.2-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder engine that produces 202 hp (150 kW / 204 PS) and 441 Nm (325 lb-ft) of torque. Power is transmitted to all four wheels exclusively through a 6-speed automatic gearbox with the help of a 4WD system and a locking differential. Depending on the suspension (road-focused five-link or utility-friendly leaf springs) the pickup can carry between 400-700 kg (882-1,543 pounds). The rear bed is available in two different lengths, with a capacity of 1,011 lt (35,7 cubic feet) or 1,262 lt (44.6 cubic feet). Finally, the towing capacity is up to 3 tons (6,614 pounds), assisted by the addition of the new Trailer Sway Control system.
The updated KG Mobility Rexton Sports Culmen is priced between 34.78-40.46 million won ($26,250-30,544), while the old Rexton Sports is still available between 28.27-42.69 million won ($21,341-32,227). The automaker didn’t specify when the facelifted pickup will reach other markets, but it is safe to assume that will happen sometime throughout the next year. Note that UK buyers are still stuck with a SsangYong-branded Musso since the KG Mobilty re-branding hasn’t happened yet in their region.
