Comedian Spike Feresten claims that Porsche is gearing up for a big announcement on June 8, a significant date for the German automaker.
In an interview with comedian Jerry Seinfeld on Spike’s Car Radio, Feresten hinted at an unexpected reveal that will coincide with the 75th anniversary of the registration of the first Porsche vehicle. While Feresten’s source remains anonymous, the announcement has Porsche enthusiasts eagerly awaiting what could be a major development for the brand.
“June 8th Porsche is making an announcement about a car that, in their words, has not been talked about yet,” Feresten said, in a segment that starts around the 16-minute mark. “June 8th. And what is the significance?”
“That is the day that the number one car was certified,” responded Seinfeld.

The two men noted that the date of June 8 falls just a few days before the 2023 24 Hours of Le Mans, which marks its 100th anniversary this year and in which Porsche will participate. These two events would provide an ideal backdrop for the unveiling of a new Porsche. However, the identity of the vehicle is still unknown, but Seinfeld had a guess.
“What if it’s one of those – remember they showed those design studies? What if they made one of those? It’s weird that they showed all of those,” said Seinfeld.
However, recent reports suggest that the flat-eight 918 Spyder followup that the company was preparing has been canned, and that the all-electric hypercar it wants to build is at least five years away.

We do know that Porsche has been working on a new version of the 911 whose name evokes brand history. The 911 ST is expected to be based on the GT3 trim, but is inspired by the car of the same name that was first sold in the 1970s.
The original car was a limited edition, race-focused model that featured lightweight materials and other modifications for the track. However, the modern car is expected to combine a manual transmission and retro design cues with the 911 GT3’s powerful powertrain.
Spy photos of the new Porsche 911 ST have been circulating since 2022, indicating that the automaker is nearing completion of the model. While the car will compete in the hypercar class at Le Mans, Porsche’s 911 has been a mainstay in endurance racing for decades. With June 8 marking an important anniversary for the brand, it’s the perfect time to introduce a new motorsport-inspired retro version of the classic car.
