The McLaren 720S may have just been officially replaced by the slightly more powerful and quicker 750S but make no mistake, it is still an absolute weapon and this unit is particularly striking.

This 720S was recently handed over to the crew at Strasse Wheels to be equipped with a new set of shoes. Given that the British supercar is already finished in a stunning shade of dark purple dubbed Cobalt Purple, we don’t really think it needed a set of aftermarket wheels. Nevertheless, it has them and they look quite nice.

Strasse refers to these wheels as the SMR5 Duoblocks and notes that they measure 20×9.5 at the front and 21×12.5 at the rear. They immediately stand out thanks to the Brushed Rose Gold finish that contrasts the purple paint nicely. Wrapped around these new wheels are Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tires.

Purple McLaren 720S Steals The Spotlight With Rose Gold Strasse Wheels

Given that the new McLaren 750S is now the firm’s flagship mid-engined supercar, it’s possible that prices of the 720S will drop slightly on the used car market, meaning that, for prospective buyers, now could be the perfect time to pick up the keys to one.

Yes, it has been six years since the 720S was unveiled but it still remains one of the quickest supercars on the planet, continuing to easily outperform the less powerful Lamborghini Huracan and the Ferrari F8 Tributo. Power comes courtesy of McLaren’s 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 which was developed from the 3.8-liter mill of the 650S. The supercar is good for 710 hp at 7,500 rpm and 568 lb-ft (770 Nm) of torque, although dyno runs have shown time and time again that McLaren underrated the 720’s horsepower and torque figures from the factory.
