I don’t know what your relationship with your mother was like, but while mine was happy to bake cakes with the younger me she never wanted to go in the sea (always too cold), and would rather cheer from the sidelines than get involved in any kind of family sports showdown. And she certainly never raced me up my town’s main street and got both our cars confiscated by the police once I’d got my license.
But that’s what happened to one mother and son in California who were busted for racing through city streets in Fresno. Police clocked the pair at 80 mph (129 km/h) traveling east on Shaw Street from First Street, which is a 40 mph (64 km/h) zone. Officers reported seeing them driving dangerously and weaving around other vehicles before they were eventually pulled over.

Images released by Fresno Police Department appear to show a modern Dodge Charger and a GMC Sierra pickup truck being loaded onto tow trucks to be taken to a police impound yard. Both vehicles were impounded for 30 days and the drivers were issued with citations, according to local police.
“Flowers, brunch, dinner, maybe even a spa day…. that’s how most of us spent yesterday with our moms. But not these two…” said a post on Fresno Police Department’s Facebook page poking fun at the pair, before striking a more serious tone.
“If you are engaging in illegal street racing and/or sideshow activity we will impound your vehicle for 30 days. Fresno is not the place to commit these hazardous crimes.”
