It is hard not to love the Suzuki Jimny. Sure, it has its faults and may be comically impractical, but it represents excellent value for money and is an extremely capable off-roader. For as good as it is, we suspect it could be overthrown by the mini, all-electric Ford Bronco you see before you.
This isn’t a real product from Ford and has instead been designed by Naoto Kobayashi. It is known simply as the Ford Mini Bronco and has been conceived for the 2030 model year. With this in mind, the design is quite a bit different than the current Bronco but it still looks just as purposeful and would give the Jimny a serious run for its money.

Like the Jimny, the Mini Bronco has been conceived as a two-door with an exceptionally short wheelbase and tiny front and rear overhangs, all elements that would add to its off-road credentials. Kobayashi has also rendered it with a set of mud-terrain tires wrapped around a set of retro-modern wheels with black and silver elements.
The front and rear fascias of the Ford are also quite eye-catching. Up front, you’ll notice there is an illuminated Ford badge as well as large LEDs used in place of a traditional headlamp. There are also striking LED daytime running lights and a rough-and-ready skid plate. The rear continues the theme with LED lights and a skid plate.

Kobayashi has also rendered the cabin of the Mini Bronco. Like so many current production cars, it sports a single display housing the digital instrument cluster and the infotainment screen. A steering wheel with a flat top and flat bottom is also featured and despite the car being imagined for the year 2030, it still uses plenty of physical buttons, switches and dials.
Will Ford produce a compact Bronco like this? Who knows, but we have our fingers crossed.
