If you were to take a quick look at this 1992 Mitsubishi Galant VR 4, you could be excused for thinking it is just like any other and simply has some motorsport-inspired stickers across its exterior. However, this Galant VR 4 is actually the world’s fastest and it is currently up for sale on eBay for $29,999.
The car spent its formative years just like any other Galant VR 4 but in the 2000s, it was extensively modified by RaVer Motorsports and Smith Automotive with the intention of competing in land speed racing. From 2006 to 2009, the modified Mitsubishi was a prominent fixture at events held at the Bonneville Salt Flats and El Mirage Dry Lake Bed.

While the car looks quite unassuming, it once hit a verified top speed of 224 mph (360 km/h) in 2009 at the Bonneville Salt Flats and eclipsed the 210 mph (334 km/h) on a number of other occasions. It was last raced at El Mirage Dry Lake Bed in November 2009 where it hit 212.9 mph (342.6 km/h) and remains in the same condition that it was that day. It has spent most of its time since stored in a climate-controlled showroom at a Central California dealership.
As you may suspect, extensive work has been done on the car to allow it to hit such monumental speeds. For example, the 2.0-liter 4G63 engine best known for powering the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo is now rocking a Garrett GT45R turbocharger that runs at 50 PSI of boost. There is also a custom liquid-to-air intercooler, new engine head porting and camshafts, Kiggly Racing valve springs, Magnus 440cc primary and 1,680 cc secondary injectors, new pistons, aluminum rods, and a new AEM engine management system. The modifications mean the unassuming sedan delivers 909 hp at a screaming 9,500 rpm.
The listing makes no mention of how many miles the car has been driven.
