Porsche has built some hugely desirable sports cars over the decades but few get the blood pumping of classic car enthusiasts quite like the Porsche 356 Speedster. Indeed, these cars now routinely trade hands for over $250,000, putting them out of reach for many. If only there was an alternative. As it turns out, there is.
This intriguing creation was sold through Historics Auctioneers in the UK and is listed as a 2018 Porsche 356 Speedster Homage. Of course, that’s not a genuine model and instead, the car started out life as a 986-generation Porsche Boxster before being overhauled by Brian Hale of DNA Automotive.
In transforming the Boxster into an homage to the 356 Speedster, all of the standard body panels have been replaced with a custom bodywork styled after the original 356. These new panels start at the front end where there are new circular headlights and additional circular driving lights and a custom hood.

The changes continue down the sides of the sports car and include eye-catching new Fuchs-style wheels with black and silver spokes. The car also features a Porsche decal running along the sides and a pair of new wing mirrors. Completing the visual transformation are all-new panels at the rear, including large humps behind the headrests, a deployable spoiler, and dual tailpipes.
The listing lacks details about the build process but notes this is a one-off from DNA Automotive. Despite that, it could easily pass as a genuine product that Porsche made as a homage to the original 356 Speedster. The car has been driven a total of 86,799 miles (139,689 km).
