The folks that bought that flooded NSX a few weeks ago are back at it again. Now, they’ve picked up another salvaged Acura but this time it was a fire that took it out. Now, they’re working to bring the two cars together but just getting started is a chore.
If you’ve been following the journey that Helix Auto Works is on, there’s no doubt that returning its flooded NSX, dubbed the LochNSX, to the road is a big job. That car sat underwater for over a decade. As a result, it needs new parts all over the place. That’s where this new fire-damaged NSX comes into play.
Nico from Helix Auto Works traveled to Tennessee to pick up the burned-out Acura and found a mix of good and bad. The entire rear suspension suffered damage in the fire and most of the parts surrounding the engine did too. The heat from the fire also caused some of the aluminum incorporated into the frame and other parts to melt.

On the plus side, this car has two good A-pillars, something that the LochNSX needs desperately. It also has a decent interior, good doors, front fenders, and lighting elements. Simply obtaining the Fire X as Helix calls it wasn’t the tough part though.
Getting it onto the trailer and then moving it from Tennessee to Maryland, where Helix Auto Works is, was a chore. Winching the car up onto the car hauler took roughly three hours, says Nico. The lack of suspension in the rear end required him to carefully use dollies to move it.
On the trip, the sharp pieces of aluminum ended up shredding his tarps and even cutting a strap at one point. Ultimately, the two cars now reside in the same garage. There are a lot of questions remaining as to how Helix will end up bringing the LochNSX back to life. Not the least of which is how many total salvage NSXs will end up contributing to the final project.
