Cars might be completely inanimate objects but many of us develop a deep relationship with them. Like everything else in the world though, nothing lasts forever. That’s the impetus for our question today. What’s the one car you most regret no longer owning?
This question comes to you from one of you, Craig, who suggested it in another recent QOTD. It was the most popular QOTD suggestion so we’re tapping into it today so that we can hear from all of you. It’s time to dig deep into your past and your heart.
I haven’t had a huge history of amazing cars but there are a few that are gone that I wish I still had sitting around, not least of which is our lead image, my old E60 BMW 535i. It featured BMW‘s N54 inline-six which itself uses two turbochargers to make about 300 hp (223 kW). It left because I was no longer in a position to maintain it the way I wanted to. Every time I see one I wish it was still around though.

Maybe your story is similar. Maybe you owned something that you simply couldn’t keep running at the time and so it had to go. Maybe it was something else. My father-in-law sold his Corvette when he and his wife had their first kid.
If I could only pick one car that I miss the most it would have to be my very first car, a very dilapidated Porsche 944. It wasn’t the turbocharged 951 but it was mine and it was a blast to drive.
At one point it seemed to have a head gasket issue. I tried to fix it myself and only made things worse so I sold it to the first person who gave me $1,000 for it.
I would be sure fun to have it back. What do you miss most? Which car do you most regret no longer owning? Tell us what it is and what separated you from it.
