A year has passed since Valtteri Bottas drove an F1 in the streets of Milan for Alfa Romeo’s 112th birthday making some really loud noises in the process. For its 113th birthday this year, the Italian brand organized a similar feast, with F1 driver Zhou Guanyu doing donuts with a single-seater in Alfa Romeo’s factory before taking it on the highway.

The celebratory video starts in the early morning hours in the Cassino plant. Guanyu steps in with an F1 donut session in front of Alfa Romeo employees, while the Quadrifoglio variants of the recently facelifted Giulia and Stelvio join the action. After burning some rubber, the F1 exits the gates of the factory and enters the Autostrada for a short trip.

The single-seater drove from Piedimonte San Germano to the Pomigliano d’Arco exit, going flat out on the empty highway. Of course, this section was closed to the public, allowing a unique experience for the F1 driver, the filming crew, and the toll workers. If you are wondering, the “Transito Mezzi Eccezionaly” that is written on the highway signs is Italian for “transport of exceptional vehicles”. The trip ends at the Alfa Romeo Giambattista Vico plant near the city of Naples, for the F1 to meet the Tonale.

The F1 used in the video appears to be the same as last year – an older 2013 Sauber C32 – although this time it is dressed with a stealthier black and red Alfa Romeo livery mirroring the 2023 C43 F1.

The celebrations for Alfa Romeo’s birthday will continue throughout the weekend, with various events, parades, and activities held by the Alfa Romeo Museum. This year also marks the centenary of the Quadrifoglio emblem, highlighted by the sold-out Giulia And Stelvio Quadrifoglio 100° Anniversario Editions.
