One of the largest charger manufacturers in the USA, BTC Power is going to add Tesla’s charging standard to its products starting next year. It’s only the latest big name to adapt to the North American Charging Standard (NACS) used by Tesla. Currently, BTC supplies chargers to a number of notable clients nationwide.

Based in Santa Ana, California, privately owned BTC Power has sold over 22,000 chargers. More than half of those chargers are of the high-speed variety that EV users prefer. Among its many clients are big names like Amazon, 7-Eleven, Ford, and Electrify America.

Beginning in 2024 it’ll add Tesla’s NACS to its products in an effort to widen its net and draw in more customers. It’s the fourth major charger manufacturer to do so after ABB E-mobility North America, Tritium DCFC, and SK Signet.

“By including the NACS connector to our chargers we can eliminate the need for unreliable and unpredictable adapters that are being utilized by drivers using our equipment,” BTC CEO Frank Meza said to Reuters. Aside from the charging manufacturers that have adopted NACS, many automakers are going in the same direction.

General Motors and Ford are adopting the technology which will allow their customers to utilize more charging stations across the country. Even rival EV automaker Rivian is going to incorporate NACS starting in 2025. As shocking as that might be it’s a win both for the automakers and their customers. On top of that, Tesla benefits as it adds revenue via customer count to its Supercharger network.

Other charger makers like EVgo and Chargepoint are also adding NACS connectivity. On the other side of the coin, many Tesla Superchargers are getting Combined Charging System adapters. Electric vehicle infrastructure is getting a huge boost regardless of what EV one might choose to buy, lease, or drive.
