Across the nation, dealers tend to mark up desirable performance cars when they feel the market suits them. What’s less common is seeing them commit to that greedy practice when the car in question is pre-owned. Nevertheless, one Chevrolet dealer in Las Vegas wants north of $100,000 over a Corvette Z06’s MSRP.
The Chevrolet Corvette is often called the “poor man’s Ferrari” but that value-forward spot in the market might be disappearing. According to the automaker, buyers should pay somewhere between $109,000 and $130,000 for a new Z06 before options. The most expensive stock Z06 version is the 3LZ Convertible.
That just so happens to be the same sort of car that Findlay Chevrolet in Las Vegas currently has listed for sale at the absurd price of $261,440. Not only is that price itself offensive but evidently it’s $40,000 less than Findlay originally listed the car for. They pat themselves on the back for providing a “savings” of that $40k.

What’s also interesting about this practice is that it technically undermines GM’s own efforts to reduce greedy dealer markups. The automaker publicly came out against such practices early in 2022 and said that it might void the warranty on cars that are flipped within six months of their original purchase.
Findlay doesn’t mention any sort of warranty whatsoever with this car leading us to believe that the next owner could be without one. That’s not great if you’ve kept up with the number of Z06 mechanical issues the market is seeing and it’s even more suspect as this car has just 581 miles on the odometer. How was it treated in that time? Did the original owner faithfully abide by the vitally important break-in period? Who knows?
As one final offense, the dealer makes at least one major error in its description of the car. Near the very end of the listing, Findlay lays out important details about the car saying “5.5L V8 8-Speed Manual RWD.” You’d think that Findlay would know that no such manual transmission version of the C8 Corvette exists. If it did, maybe it would be worth $100k over sticker. Just kidding… it wouldn’t be.
