The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is now a global car which means it’s available in more markets than ever before. It also means that Chevrolet and its customers have to accept a few compromises. One such example is the newly-introduced Japan-spec Z06 which comes in one color combo only. That’s not the only change from the US version either.
Every single Chevrolet Corvette Z06 headed for Japan will, for now at least, come in one specific configuration. It includes black exterior paint, an Adrenaline Red interior, and the 3LZ package. Owners can change some other features about the car but every single one will have at least those three things in common.
According to GM Japan executive Yoshiaki Uehara, that comes down to delivery times and getting as many Z06s into the country as quickly as it can. Black paint with red interior is the “most popular combination in the United States,” he says.

First spotted by Carbuzz, Uehara also told Japanese publication webcg that “we want to provide that kind of fun to our customers, but if we do that, no matter how long we wait, the cars won’t come.” So there seems to be some hope that future Z06 models will be available with other options.
For now, buyers will have to deal without things like the Z07 package and even less horsepower than Americans get. Many versions of the global Z06 make 636 hp (475 kW) as opposed to the 670 (500 kW) that they make here in the USA. Part of that comes down to stricter emissions regulations.
Tied to those regulations is the exhaust system on the Z06, a sight of another change to the Japanese version. Instead of the centrally located quad-straight-pipe setup we get here, the car going to the land of the rising sun gets a pair of pipes at each corner. It’ll cut down on noise, pollution, and of course, power.
