The all-electric Kia EV9 has not yet been launched in Australia but to get locals excited for its impending debut, the South Korean car manufacturer is displaying the Concept EV9 at Vivid Sydney.
Vivid Sydney is the world’s largest festival of light and includes a dizzying array of displays throughout the city. The Concept EV9 is currently on display in Circular Quad near the famed Sydney Opera House and set on a stage that lights up and showcases the innovative design of the electric SUV in all its glory.
“As the world’s largest festival of light, music and ideas, Vivid Sydney attracts a huge influx of domestic and international visitors to the city,” Kia Australia general manager of marketing Dean Norbiato said. “We feel honoured to showcase the Kia Concept EV9 for the first time in Australia. As a brand, we continue to evolve our experiential offerings to ensure we’re always representing Kia in a fresh and innovative light.”
Joining the Concept EV9 as part of the brand’s display at Vivid Sydney is its most recent and powerful addition to its range, the all-electric EV6 GT. It has been positioned atop a 9.5m LED ramp that makes it look as though it is flying.

At the conclusion of the event, the Concept EV9 will be displayed during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup being jointly hosted in Australia and New Zealand from July 20 to August 20.
Kia has confirmed that the EV9 will launch in Australia in the third quarter of this year but pricing and availability details have not yet been announced. However, all signs point towards it being the brand’s most expensive model, priced between AU$90,000 (~$59,000) and AU$120,000 (~$79,000). It will likely be offered in similar configurations as it is in overseas markets, including a rear-wheel drive version with 201 hp and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) as well as a twin-motor version with 378 hp and 442 lb-ft (600 Nm).
