Ready for a sentence that sounds like gibberish, but will mean something to you by the end of this piece? Mercedes has made the Superplastic universe physical with a limited edition Superdackel.
If you’re lost, let’s go over this story one piece at a time. Superplastic is a Vermont-based design studio that has made a name for itself creating “synthetic celebrities,” or fancy cartoons. They then collaborate with high-end brands, like Gucci, Tommy Hilfiger, and Mercedes to make collectibles for rich people.
At the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the brand unveiled a new take on “Wackeldackel,” the nodding dog toy that you’ve likely seen bobbing on someone’s dashboard. They called their modern take on the toy Superdackel, and made it interact with their synthetic celebrities, Janky and Guggimon, in a short video called Road Tripz.

Now, Superdackel will make the leap into the real world with a figurine. Limited to just 65 examples, the toy is made of wood, and is designed to have an “effortlessly cool vibe.” Hewn from American lumber, the new take on the classic toy will also figure on a series of clothing items.
These include a hoodie, a t-shirt, and a hat, all of which are made of 100 percent organic cotton. They all feature the Mercedes-Benz logo that has been modified to incorporate the Superdackel head.
In addition, as part of the collaboration, Superplastic and Mercedes are also introducing neck accessories for both you and your dog. For you, there is a scarf made of 100 percent silk that features an eye-catching checker pattern, as well as the Superdackel logo.
For your dog, there is a collar that comes in sizes small (neck size 31-37 cm / 12-14.5 in) and medium (neck size 39-45 cm / ca. 15-17 in). They, too, feature the Superdackel logo. All are available online at superplastic.co and at its NYC retail store, 15 Prince Street, until June 26.
