In a surprise move, MG announced it will show two new “EV performance cars” at the Goodwood Festival of Speed which will also facilitate the global debut of the Cyberster electric roadster.
The first EV is a “dramatic” prototype codenamed EX4 which was designed and built in the UK. This likely means it won’t be based on any existing MG-branded products offered in China and other markets.
The second debut is more interesting, as it is a production model. MG describes it as a “sporting EV” that will be available for sale later in the summer of 2023. Without any official information, we can only speculate it could be a performance version of an existing model. A possible candidate is the Mulan Triumph Edition of the MG4 hatchback which is already available in China.

MG didn’t reveal much information about the technical specifications of the mysterious electric vehicles but promised that more details will be announced shortly. Speaking about the debuts, Guy Pigounakis, Commercial Director for MG Motor UK said that they demonstrate “MG’s desire to create electric cars that will engage and exhilarate”.
Both models will appear at the First Glance paddock of Goodwood alongside the MG Cyberster which will take on the hill climb. The fully electric roadster will make its global public debut at Goodwood before sales commence in 2024.
The MG Cyberester debuted in production form at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show last April, one month before it arrived at MG’s Marylebone headquarters in London. Documents from China suggest that the model will be available in single-motor RWD guise with 310 hp (231 kW / 314 PS) and in dual-motor AWD guise with 536 hp (400 kW / 544 PS). Reports from UK media suggest that local pricing will start from around £55k ($70k).
