One week after Ram published a set of revealing teasers for the Rampage, the compact pickup was caught completely undisguised in an underground parking lot in Brazil ahead of its official debut.
Unlike the Ram Rampage shown in the official teaser, this example comes with body-colored bumpers, fender flares, and side sills. It also sports black alloy wheels and a slightly different grille finished in gloss black, with the red-painted emblem showing that this is the R/T trim level.
More: New Ram Rampage Small Pickup Truck Is Reportedly Coming To The USA
The truck was spotted by @audacepulse (via Motor1) who uploaded video and photo evidence on his Instagram profile. The truck looks like a pickup version of the Jeep Compass due to the very similar surfacing on the doors. Note that Jeep’s compact SUV is actually sharing the Small Wide unibody architecture with the Ram Rampage, as with the Alfa Romeo Tonale and the Dodge Hornet.
The Ram Rampage was developed for South America and will be produced in the Stellantis factory in Brazil. However, it has been reported that Ram plans on bringing it to the US market, with a local launch rumored for later this year. The Ford Maverick rival could be produced in Mexico alongside the mechanically-related Jeep Compass, in order for Ram to avoid the 25% chicken tax levied on imported light trucks.
Stellantis has confirmed that the Rampage will be offered with the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder Hurricane engine. Additionally, it has been reported that a 2.2-liter turbodiesel is under consideration, with a plug-in hybrid powertrain also possible for the future, especially if the model arrives in the US.
