The long-awaited Ram Rampage is already proving to be a hit in Brazil with confirmation that the first 500 units heading to the production line were sold in just 28 minutes.
Local customers who were eager to secure an early allocation for the Rampage were instructed to place a deposit of R$1,000, approximately equivalent to US$210. The reason behind Ram’s decision to limit the initial sale to only 500 reservations remains unclear. However, it has been reported that an additional 1,100 reservations were accepted later on due to high customer demand.
According to a report from Mopar Insiders, the first 1,600 allocations for the Rampage will come equipped with the Elite Pack for no extra charge. This pack adds a Harman Kardon premium sound system, a passenger seat with 12-way electrical adjustments, and internal ambient LED lighting. The Elite Pack will set back normal customers R$6,000 or $1,250.

There’s a lot to like about the new Rampage. For starters, it has a very familiar Ram design and essentially looks like a slightly smaller and softer version of the 1500. It also has some similarities with the Jeep Compass, a vehicle that it shares many of its mechanical components with.
Two engines will be offered in South America. The first is the same turbocharged 2.0-liter Hurricane four-cylinder as the Wrangler, pumping out a cool 298 hp and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. Those who want a diesel will be able to opt for the 2.0-liter Multijet with 168 hp and 280 lb-ft (380 Nm). Both engines are coupled exclusively to a 9-speed automatic transmission that drives all four wheels. Ram says that the Rampage R/T with the 298 hp petrol engine can hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.9 seconds while the diesel model needs 10.9 seconds to reach the same mark.
