The new Ford Mustang GT4 debuted today at the 24 Hours of Spa in Belgium as part of the Blue Oval’s racing offensive in different categories. The new generation of the GT4 model that follows shortly after the launch of the GT3 is based on the 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse and will be produced by Multimatic.
From the outside, the Mustang GT4 is not as wild as the GT3, looking more like a tuned production model. This is attributed to the regulations of the SRO-sanctioned GT4 category which do not allow crazy aerodynamic components and which will see it competing against the likes of the Toyota Supra and BMW M4 racers. The body panels of the Mustang GT4 are made of natural fiber for weight-saving reasons, while the aero package includes a pronounced splitter, canards, and a generously-sized fixed rear wing.
For the official presentation, the racing model got a colorful livery created by Troy Lee Designs, who also dressed the Mustang GT3 and the SuperVan 4.2, and it features the recently revealed new logo of Ford Performance alongside the pony car’s iconic emblem. Of course, the customer vehicles will wear the colors of each team.

The stripped-out interior has a full roll cage, a Recaro bucket, a digital instrument cluster, a yoke steering wheel, paddle shifters with pneumatic actuation, racing pedals, and plenty of controls in the dedicated center console.
Under the bonnet lies a Coyote-based V8 engine developed in-house by Ford Performance that will be assembled in Ford‘s Dearborn plant in Michigan. The automaker didn’t reveal the specifications of the powertrain which will likely be announced at a later date. Power is transmitted to the rear axle through a Holinger dog-ring gearbox. As for the track-focused chassis setup, the Mustang GT4 comes fitted with Multimatic DSSV dampers and Brembo brakes.

With this new version, based off the seventh generation’s new Dark Horse model, we’ve upped the game and are ready to challenge an entire world of competitors.”
Ford Performance will further expand the lineup of Mustang-based racecars with the Dark Horse R that is coming soon. Note that the company previewed six racing variants of the pony car back in September 2022, shortly after the reveal of the seventh-generation Mustang.
