Not everyone knows that Dodge built a very special version of the second-generation Viper called the ACR. John Hennessey built an even more extreme version called the 650R. Now, somebody has strapped a couple of turbochargers onto one of those and it’s up for sale.

This car began life in the late 1990s as most any other Viper ACR with a V10 engine, BBS wheels, a sport suspension, and other upgrades over the “regular” Viper. At some point in the time after that, the folks over at Hennessey got a hold of this car and basically gave it a new heart.

It’s technically the same V10 but now it has new internals, bigger throttle bodies, a high-flow intake manifold, and Motec engine management to handle the extra displacement. Power was rated at the time at 650 hp (484 kW) and 650 lb-ft (880 Nm) of torque. That’s respectable for a car made two decades later.

For this car’s previous owner, it wasn’t enough, so in 2014, they commissioned a full twin-turbocharger upgrade for the Viper ACR Hennessey 650R. Sadly, the one thing they didn’t think to do was to include current power figures for this Viper. Even the bill for the addition of the turbos, which comes to $31,818, has no such figure or estimate.

What’s clear is that this car isn’t in perfect shape. The seats are well-worn and will likely need to be replaced or reupholstered. The headlights could use a refresh too and there’s a crack on the front splitter as well.

On top of that, the air conditioning needs a recharge and the sound system is currently inoperable. It’ll take a little bit of cash to bring it back to perfection. Nevertheless, this is a chance to own a rare version of an already rare car but with a couple of extra turbochargers to sweeten the deal. As of this writing, it’s already bid up to $53,000 on BaT.
