Manufacturers suggest a retail price to their dealers here in America and it’s what they think customers should pay. That’s what MSRP stands for and it’s got us wondering what the hottest car under $100,000 is if MSRP is all you’re considering in terms of budget. What would you pick and why?
Right off the bat let’s talk about the elephant in the room. Markups suck and they’re the reason that the letters MSRP have to be in the title of this article. Data suggests that they diminish brand loyalty, decrease customer satisfaction, and deprive hardcore enthusiasts of the cars that they’d like to actually own and drive. So just because we’re talking about some of these cars that nest near the six-figure mark doesn’t mean they’re actually available for that price right now.
Now that we’re clear on that, let’s talk about what automakers say we should be able to buy for $99,999 or less. The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrafoglio is one such monster with a 505 hp twin-turbocharged V6 and some of the best driving dynamics available. It’s even somewhat practical since it’s a sedan. It looks fantastic and sounds good too.

The Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing might be the better choice though. It’s wickedly fast, features a properly legendary V8, and actually comes with three pedals and a stick. Of all the cars on the market with an MSRP under $100,000, it might be the one that is looked back on decades from now with the most venerated reputation.
Another option that should hold its value well over that time is the Porsche 718 Cayman GTS 4.0. Sitting just beneath our budget at $96,850 it’s packing a lot for that cash. Namely, a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six with 394 hp and your choice of a stick shift or an automatic.
Maybe you think the hottest thing with this cash is something else though. A Land Rover, an EV, or something else perhaps. Let us know what you’d have in the comments below and vote for your favorites!
