Way back in the 1970s, Ford introduced the limited-run Free Wheeling packages for its trucks, including the F-100, F-150, Econoline Van, and the Bronco. Now, the Bronco Sport is bringing the groovy style back with its own take on the Free Wheeling concept.
2024 Bronco Sport Free Wheeling Special Edition
Based on the Big Bend model, the 2024 Bronco Sport Free Wheeling Special Edition will add five stripes of ombre color in along the side and rear of the SUV. The lines go from dark red to yellow in a sunset effect that, like the trucks in the ’70s, is reflective.
In addition, the package also features a silver-painted grille with two-tone Bronco badging, and a modified lower front end insert. The roof is painted black, and to really help the package pop, the 17-inch wheels feature a high-gloss black center portion with red accents.

Inside, the 2024 Bronco Sport Free Wheeling package features Black Onyx and Space Grey finishes with sunset-colored seat inserts, to match the exterior. The door trim gets a Race Red C Channel with ombre stitching.
“The Ford Free Wheeling package was developed to appeal to younger customers,” said Ted Ryan, Archives and Heritage Brand Manager for Ford. “The Free Wheeling Broncos were as popular as they were distinctive.”
The Black Appearance Package
In addition to the Free Wheeling package, Bronco Sport Big Bend buyers will alternatively be able to choose the Black Appearance Package, also announced today. Less historical, it takes inspiration from the night sky.
With the package equipped, the model features a Carbon Black grille and two-tone Bronco lettering. Around back, Ford’s oval logo is finished in Smoked Chrome, and it will be available in either Azure Gray or Desert Sand.
It will also get matte black 17-inch wheels, a matte black hood graphic, and a Shadow Black painted roof. Inside, owners get Sport Contour seats, and a modified airbag cover with a bucking bronco badge.
“Bronco Sport customers have been asking for the stylish black finishes available on the F-150, Maverick, and Mustang, and we’re delivering with the new Black Appearance Package,” said Hyde. “It also builds on the night sky gauge cluster graphics that Bronco Sport customers see that plays a startup screen featuring the Milky Way.”
