The year of the mid-size truck continues as GMC has unveiled the 2024 Canyon AT4X AEV Edition.
Based on the already impressive Canyon AT4X, the AEV Edition kicks things up a notch with off-road focused upgrades that are a mix of style and substance.
They’re no wallflowers as the truck commands attention thanks to beadlock-capable wheels that are wrapped in massive 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires. The truck has also been equipped with a 4.5 inch (114 mm) lift, which is 1.5 inches (38 mm) more than the standard AT4X. That’s a sizable increase and it gives the truck a best-in-class ground clearance of 12.2 inches (310 mm).

Thanks to these and other changes, the AT4X AEV Edition has approach, departure, and breakover angles of 38.2, 26, and 26.9 degrees, respectively. To put those numbers into perspective, the Gladiator Mojave comes in at 44.7, 25.5, and 20.9 degrees. It’s also worth noting the Jeep has 11.6 inches (295 mm) of ground clearance.
Putting the measuring tape down, the Canyon AT4X AEV Edition is notable for wearing heavy-duty steel bumpers with integrated recovery points. The front bumper is also winch capable, which is a nice bonus.
Other highlights include hot-stamped boron steel skid plates and larger fender flares to accommodate the massive tires. Buyers will also find a lightly revised interior with three auxiliary switches, all-weather floor liners, and AEV embroidered headrests.
Besides the Canyon AT4X AEV Edition, GMC announced a handful of updates for 2024. In particular, the Baja drive mode – which is available exclusively on the AT4X and AT4X AEV Edition – now includes launch control. GMC said it works on- and off-road, and “learns the driving surface” so it can “adjust engine speed and torque accordingly to improve subsequent performance on future launches.”
The other big news for 2024 is the introduction of GM’s Ultifi software platform. This will enable new features and services to be delivered via future over-the-air updates.
