The fourth generation of the Kia Sorento has received an early mid-lifecycle update, just three years after its initial debut. Unveiled in Korea today, the midsize SUV showcases Kia’s latest and more refined styling language, presenting a refreshed front face and a sleeker interior. International versions are set to follow later this year. Notably, this update came shortly after Hyundai introduced a radical redesign for its mechanically-related Hyundai Santa Fe.
The first thing you’ll notice is the redesigned front end, highlighted by a new pair of slimmer and vertically-stacked LED headlights flanking the tiger-nose grille. The bumper showcases cleaner lines, and the hood is now seamlessly aligned with the nose. This makeover echoes the design language of the EV9 flagship SUV and the recently facelifted Picanto city car, and is expected to find its way into more Kia models in the near future.

The rest of the bodywork remains largely unchanged, aside from the restyled rear bumper, the introduction of new Kia emblems, and the slightly reworked LED taillights, now featuring connected clusters. In addition, the automaker has introduced a fresh design for the alloy wheels and a selection of new exterior colors to complement the overall updated look.
Inside, Kia designers have implemented a more streamlined layout for the dashboard, incorporating cleaner lines for a modern aesthetic. The standout feature is the new large curved display, boasting dual 12.3-inch screens that seamlessly integrate the latest infotainment software. Just below the screen, slimmer climate vents, a new ambient lighting stripe, and revised climate controls, reminiscent of the EV6, enhance the overall interior ambiance and user experience.
New fingerprint authentication system
A noteworthy addition to the tech features of the new Sorento is the fingerprint authentication system, situated on the center console, providing the owner with convenient access to start the car, activate valet mode, and make secure payments. Moreover, the new upholstery options now include the black/olive brown combination, featuring leather-wrapped seats as showcased in the provided image.
As with its predecessor, the facelifted Kia Sorento will be offered in its home market of Korea in a range of powertrain options, including petrol, diesel, and hybrid variants, with both 2WD and 4WD configurations available for the hybrid model. The plug-in hybrid is also anticipated to be introduced in other markets.
North American model
Detailed specifications for the refreshed SUV are expected to be revealed in mid-August when Kia announces pricing for the Korean market. The North American specification model will be announced in the following months and could arrive as either a 2024MY or 2025MY, depending on its availability. Expect the North American version to maintain the same powertrain options, including a 191HP 2.5-liter straight-four, a 281HP 2.0L turbo, a 227HP 1.6L hybrid, and a 261HP 1.6L plug-in hybrid.
