Audi recently announced plans to launch an app store for models equipped with the MIB 3 infotainment system and now the company has added a YouTube app.

Available on select 2024 models – including the A4/A5, Q5, A6/A7, A8, Q8 e-tron, and e-tron GT – the addition is notable as it’s the first video app in the Audi store and “more than 500 hours of content are uploaded to YouTube every minute.”

That means there will be plenty to watch while you’re charging your car or waiting for your kids to get out of school. Audi says the in-car app acts just like the smartphone app, and enables YouTube Premium members to log in and watch ad-free content.

This promises to be a boon for consumers as they can relax and be entertained while watching clips on a large display. However, in the name of safety, videos will only play while the vehicle is in park.

While Audi is the first Volkswagen Group brand to offer streaming video, it won’t be the last as the company has announced other brands will follow in the future. Among them is the facelifted Porsche Cayenne, which offers an optional 10.9-inch passenger display that offers streaming video through Screenhits TV.

Getting back to Audi, the automaker has already announced their store will offer an assortment of popular apps including Spotify, TikTok, and Yelp. Users will also find Webex and The Weather Channel.
