Say what you will about BMW’s current design language but it’s certainly generated it plenty of publicity (albeit mostly bad) over the past few years. While it’s hard to pinpoint exactly where things went wrong for the German automaker, all of its wacky design decisions have culminated in the BMW XM, perhaps the most controversial car it has ever created.
From every angle, the XM just looks odd. Whether it’s the front end with the excessively large grille, the odd split LED headlights, the design of the wheels, or the truly bizarre rear end, it’s hard to find an angle where it actually looks good. However, Los Angeles-based tuner RDB LA thinks it has found the perfect way to improve the XM.

The company recently had an XM roll into its shop and has covered it in a special wrap color that it developed in-house. It first used this wrap on a Lamborghini Urus Performante and refers to it as ‘Hexis.’ The color has a unique matte bronze finish and unlike many other wraps that often look tacky, it actually looks like a very premium color that an automaker like Land Rover itself may sell to customers.
With the XM, the wrap covers the vast majority of the body but there are some areas that have been left gloss black. For example, the flared wheel arches are black as are some elements of the front bumper, the rocker panels, the window surrounds, the rear bumper, and the wing mirror caps. It has also tinted the rear taillights and ensured that the wheels are finished in nothing but gloss black.
We wouldn’t go as far as to say that this wrap completely transforms the XM and makes it a nice SUV to look at. However, it certainly makes the design less offensive. What do you think?
