The rise of Cars and Coffee events’ popularity will someday only be remembered for the damage drivers did to their own vehicles leaving them. The latest example for the history books comes from a show in Texas, where a Ferrari F8 Tributo exploded into a spectacular number of pieces after fishtailing into a divider.
The crash occurred at the Cypress Cars and Coffee near Houston. Videos of the Ferrari losing control were shot by a number of people, but the Cars Across Texas YouTube channel provides us with some of the best context for the explosive accident.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the accident, and according to the channel, the driver of the F8 Tributo was fine. There’s less good news for the car, though.

As ever, it’s difficult to know with certainty what happened, but the driver appears to have been trying to peel out for the crowd of fans gathered along the side of the road. The rear end of the car seems to drift a little to the left before swinging aggressively to the right, before sending the car launching into a concrete divider, throwing parts of it all over the road.
Somewhat ironically, the Ferrari pulled out onto the road right behind a cop car, which explains how it got to the scene before the fans who were running there from just down the road.
To add insult to injury, according to the man behind the camera, the owner of the Ferrari had only owned it for a few weeks before this event. Although we’re in no position to know for sure, the damage to the car looks extensive enough to suggest that the model has been totaled.
While it’s hard to feel too bad for an owner who reportedly has two Lamborghinis in his driveway to help soothe the pain of this loss, it is a reminder that just because you can pin it, it doesn’t mean you should.
