Endless cues, security checkpoints, delays, and exorbitantly priced food are just some of the reasons to hate air travel but Delta Air Lines think it can make the experience a little more enjoyable with the introduction of a Porsche 918 Spyder shuttle.

The Porsche 918 Spyder may be a decade old but it is still one of the quickest hybrid hypercars ever conceived and through to the end of July, one is stationed at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) thanks to a partnership between Delta and Porsche.

To have a chance of getting a ride-along in the 918 Spyder, travelers will need to be a Delta Medallion member and then they will have to be lucky enough to be offered a ride should they need to be transferred to another flight. Delta has offered one-to-one airport transfers like this in other Porsche models over the years but this is the first time the transfer vehicle is one powered by a 4.6-liter natural-aspirated V8 supplemented by two electric motors.

“Thanks to Delta Air Lines exclusive partnership with Porsche, now in its twelfth year, we’re able to elevate the travel experience through a dedicated fleet of Porsche vehicles for select one-to-one airport transfers,” executive vice president and chief customer experience officer at Delta Air Lines, Allison Ausband, wrote in a LinkedIn post. “It’s a partnership that just makes sense: Like Delta, Porsche knows premium; together, our teams work to deliver the best product and the best customer experience in our industries, year after year.”

The Delta Medallion program serves as the top tier of the company’s SkyMiles loyalty membership. The Medallion program consists of Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond tiers and includes things like priority check-in, expedited baggage services, and a plethora of other benefits.
