The Goodwood Festival of Speed kicks off next week and Lotus will use the event to stage the public debut of the four-cylinder Emira.
While the car was originally introduced over two years ago, the four-cylinder variant played second-fiddle to the range-topping model that features a Toyota-sourced 3.5-liter V6. That engine is supercharged to produce 400 hp (298 kW / 406 PS) and 310 lb-ft (420 Nm) of torque. This enables the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in as little as 4.2 seconds.
Of course, the four-cylinder is why we’re here and it’s behind schedule as the model was originally slated to arrive in late 2022. However, deliveries will start later this year, although Lotus suggested Americans will need to wait until the first quarter of 2024 to get their hands on the belated four-cylinder First Edition.

Emira V6
While that’s quite a wait, the entry-level Emira has a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine sourced from Mercedes-AMG. It produces 360 hp (268 kW / 365 PS) and 317 lb-ft (430 Nm) of torque. Despite being less powerful, performance doesn’t take much of a hit as the four-cylinder coupe can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.3 seconds and top out at 180 mph (290 km/h).
The Emira will be joined by the Eletre and Evija at Lotus’ “biggest-ever stand” at Goodwood. The company will also be celebrating their 75th anniversary with a daily parade of past and present models.
