Hyundai’s N division has taken its job of developing the brand’s first high-performance EV very seriously and with the Ioniq 5 N, may have just cooked up the most fun-to-drive EV on the market. To give us a better idea of what makes it special, a handful of videos about it have been released, highlighting many of its key features.

The first video shows the Ioniq 5 N drifting around a deserted parking lot before heading onto city streets where the N Active Sound+ system is showcased in all its glory. The clip allows us to hear two of these sound profiles, known as Evolution and Supersonic, but curiously, it doesn’t give us a taste of the most intriguing sound profile of them all, Ignition. Hyundai says this mode mimics the sound of its ICE-powered cars and includes all of the same pops and bangs.

Hyundai describes the Ioniq 5 N as the most advanced N car it has ever created in the second video, which focuses on its racetrack capabilities. Adding to the thrill of driving the car is N Grin Boost which unlocks the full 641 hp for 10-second intervals. Hyundai has also strengthened the chassis with 42 additional welding points, a sub-frame stay, cowl cross-bar mounts, and side member braces. It has also revolutionized the regenerative braking system with N Brake Regen, capable of providing 0.6G of decelerative force alone. The Ioniq 5’s braking system also allows the left and right pedals to be used simultaneously.

Additional features of the Ioniq 5 N are shown in the third clip, titled ‘Corner Rascal.’ These include the N Launch Control system that maximizes traction off the line, the N Pedal system that promises to sharpen corner entry, and a system that allows drivers to customize how much power is sent to the front and rear wheels. Hyundai has even developed an N Drift Optimizer to maintain drift angles by balancing multiple vehicle controls.

To say we’re excited to get behind the wheel of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N would be an understatement.
