A voluntary recall has been issued for several thousand 2019 Jaguar XE models in the United States after it was discovered there is an issue with the rear-view camera.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recall notice notes that Jaguar XE models equipped with the Rear Camera View and Navigation Pro systems have a fault where the rear camera image display may be intermittent or permanently fail because of wiring damage in the car’s trunk. The fault means the car does not meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 111 Rear Visibility and could increase the risk of an accident.
A total of 3,134 Jaguar XE models in the U.S. and its territories are involved in the recall. These cars were manufactured between June 18, 2018 and July 9, 2019 at the company’s Castle Bromwich and Solihull Vehicle Assembly plants.

Jaguar first began to investigate the issue on October 25, 2022 after receiving field reports of the rear camera image not being displayed correctly. The car manufacturer’s engineering team spent the following six months analyzing the failure and trying to replicate it. A decision to issue a voluntary recall was made earlier this month. Jaguar has received 26 reports and warranty claims over the issue between February 26, 2021 and July 11, 2023.
Dealerships will be notified of the recall on August 3 while owners will be alerted from September 15, 2023. Dealers will inspect the functionality of the rear camera and the harness in the trunk. If no damage is detected, cable clips will be replaced to ensure the cable routing is correct. If damage is present, the harness will be repaired and the retaining clips replaced.
