Police and motorists were attacked with fireworks over the Fourth of July holiday in Michigan.
Citing Dearborn police, WXYZ is reporting the incident occurred shortly before midnight on Independence Day and was “one of more than 50 illegal firework incidents to happen in the city that night.”
According to Fox 2 Detroit, teenagers were setting off fireworks in the middle of Ford Road and an officer responded. While there, someone threw a “mortar” at the police car.

Corporal Dan Bartok told the station, “We aren’t talking about sparklers, we are [talking about] mortars and large fireworks that fire into the sky.” He went on to say what happened was “totally unacceptable” as fireworks like that can hurt or even kill people.
WXYZ said an officer and a civilian were inside the police car at the time, but no one was injured. However, the vehicle was reportedly “heavily damaged” as were others attacked that night.
Two people have reportedly been arrested in connection with the mayhem and the videos are truly something to behold. One clip shows people shooting fireworks over moving cars, while another shows teens setting off fireworks next to a Ford F-150.
