Mitsubishi continues the lengthy teaser campaign of the new Triton / L200, now focusing on the engineering aspect of the midsize pickup that will debut on July 26. Besides the exterior and interior, which have been completely redesigned, the company claims that the ladder frame chassis, suspension, and diesel powertrain are also new.
Mitsubishi says that the new truck will offer safety, comfort, and performance under any weather condition or road surface, promising significant improvements compared to the outgoing generation, which has been around since 2015 with a major facelift in 2018.

The underpinnings of the new Triton are thought to be shared with the Nissan Navara as part of the Renault-Mitsubishi-Nissan Alliance, but the company talks about a “newly developed ladder frame.” The new suspension will feature double wishbones at the front and leaf springs at the rear, targeting a better balance between driving performance and ride comfort. Last but not least, the new turbodiesel powertrain will have a higher power output and greater environmental credentials compared to its predecessor, by “significantly reducing friction loss.”
Speaking about the new model, Toshiki Masuda, chief product specialist at Mitsubishi, said: “Having the full model change of all-new Triton for the first time in about nine years, we have newly developed the engine, suspension, interior and exterior, which has resulted in significant improvements in driving performance, comfort and safety.” Masuda added that designers and engineers took customer feedback very seriously, with extensive development testing in harsh environments making sure that the final product will be suited to both leisure and commercial use.
The reveal of the sixth-gen Mitsubishi Triton will take place in Bangkok, Thailand, and will be live-streamed all over the world. Closely after the debut, Team Mitsubishi Ralliart will compete at the Asia Cross Country Rally (AXCR) with a rally-prepped version of the pickup.
