Peugeot Cycles, a well-known player in the bicycle business, previewed its next generation of electric models that will hit the market in late 2023 and early 2024, featuring new connectivity features. The trio of eBikes includes a futuristic model for the city, the family-friendly “Longtail” and the cargo-focused “Bi-Carrier.”
The Digital e-Bike designed for city use is by far the most futuristic of the three, thanks to the V-shaped frame and the minimalist features. The Digital e-Longtail is distinguished by the elongated rear, which has 2 seats for children with footrests on each side of the wheel and a metal frame that they can hold onto. Last but not least, the Digital e-Front Load is a cargo bike that is also suitable for family use as the crate on the extended front wheelbase can transport up to 3 children.

The electric bicycles are currently presented in concept form – albeit without detailed specifications – but they are expected to reach production by 2024, offered alongside more variations set to further expand the company’s lineup. All of them will benefit from new features through a dedicated smartphone application, including adaptive electric assistance, an anti-theft system, an alarm, geolocation of the bike, real-time navigation, weather forecasts at the destination, and route statistics, among other things.
The current models from Peugeot Cycles are designed, manufactured, and distributed by Cycleurope Industries, which is the exclusive licensee of the French company. However, the upcoming eBikes will be designed, manufactured, and sold by the start-up Beweel through its distribution channels.
According to Peugeot, sales of electrically assisted bicycles in Europe reached a record-breaking 5.5 million units last year. This means that one in every four bicycles sold in the Old Continent is electric.
