The affordable Dacia Spring EV with up to 190 miles of range will launch in the UK in 2024 but won’t do so in its current guise. Instead, it is the forthcoming facelifted version of the Spring that’s heading to British shores.
Dacia first started European sales of the Spring in 2021 and it’s proven to be quite the hit with more than 120,000 orders placed since its launch. It also helped Dacia increase its global sales in 2022 by 6.8% year-on-year. Dacia also notes that while the Spring has been purchased most often as a household’s second car, it is the main means of transport during the week for 90% of the multiple-vehicle households that own one.
When it launches in the UK, the Spring will be the market’s cheapest electric vehicle. In France, it starts at €17,300, the equivalent of £14,760 ($18,920) but while that figure is expected to rise slightly, the Spring will still comfortably undercut the UK’s current cheapest EV, the Smart EQ Fortwo available from £23,320 ($29,892).

“We are thrilled that Dacia Spring will come to the UK in 2024,” Dacia Brand Director for the UK, Luke Broad said. “It will certainly be worth the wait! It will literally plug a gap in the UK electric car market for a highly usable, quality EV that won’t break the bank and which makes electric vehicle ownership more realistic than ever. With over 120,000 customers already sold on the Spring’s unbeatable, ‘no-nonsense’ blend of value, efficiency and durability, UK car buyers can look forward to an EV that’s perfectly aligned to their mobility requirements and, importantly, is done the Dacia way.”
The facelifted Dacia Spring is tipped to stay true to the current model but Autocar believes it will receive new light signatures, wheel designs, and color options. Dacia is also expected to freshen up the EV’s interior and increase the quality of its materials.
