VF Engineering is widely considered a leader in boosting the performance of sports cars and supercars and its latest offering for Audi R8 owner is just about perfect.
Whereas many other tuners out there like to fit supercars like the Audi R8 with turbochargers, VF Engineering sells a supercharger upgrade for the car. Its package works for all 5.2-liter V10-powered R8 models produced between 2016 and 2023, vehicles that left the Audi factory with anywhere from 560 hp to 602 hp and between 398 lb-ft (539 Nm) of 413 lb-ft (559 Nm).
VF’s upgrade is known as the VF8XX. It is a bolt-on package and includes an Eaton TVS2300 twin vortices series roots supercharger with an accompanying air/water after-cooling system that includes a water-cooled cast manifold as well as an independent water reservoir and heat exchangers. VF Engineering has also developed an internal air bypass system designed to virtually eliminate parasitic loss at cruising speeds.

The entry-level kit sold by VF is known as the VF800 and is good for 805 hp and 610 lb-ft (827 Nm) of torque. Then there’s the slightly more powerful VF8XX kit that is good for 830 hp and 625 lb-ft (850 Nm) when running on 91-octane fuel.
Audi R8 owners who want a VF kit that really stands out can pay an additional $3,000 to have the supercharger painted in any color of their choosing.
While a supercharger package like this doesn’t give the R8 as much performance as many of the twin-turbocharger kits on the market, it should be infinitely more drivable and useable than a 1,200 hp twin-turbo Audi R8 with absurd amounts of turbo lag. We’re also willing to bet that an 800 hp supercharger kit for the R8 is a lot more reliable than a comparable twin-turbo kit.
