Acura announced that the ZDX electric crossover will debut at the Monterey Car Week on August 17, a year after the official confirmation of the nameplate’s return. The automaker gave us a sneak peek of the upcoming model showing its face in the first official teaser.
The short video and the accompanying photo reveal the front end in its entirety, which is inspired by the 2022 Acura Precision EV concept albeit with traditionally toned-down features. The SUV has a pair of slim LED headlights, an illuminated version of Acura’s Diamond Pentagon grille that appears to be covered, and sporty bumper intakes. Recent spy shots have already revealed the rest of the EV’s bodywork with minimum camouflage.

The new model was penned at the Acura Design Studio in Southern California and will be available in the standard ZDX and the performance-focused ZDX Type S forms. The latter will be “the most powerful and quickest accelerating SUV in the brand’s history”, promising to offer an “exhilarating driving experience to the electric vehicle market”.
The Acura ZDX is expected to ride on GM’s Ultium platform which is capable of a powerful dual electric motor setup highlighted in other mechanically-related models like the Chevrolet Blazer EV.
The automaker recently confirmed that the ZDX will be its first model to integrate Google Maps, Google Assistant, and Google Play Store right from the factory. It will also be the first Acura to come equipped with a Bang & Olufsen audio system, something that is going to be a standard feature across its model range in the coming years, following the partnership between the two brands.
Both the Acura ZDX and the ZDX Type S will go on sale in early 2024.
