Spy photographers have caught the 2024 Cupra Formentor on a handful of occasions, but the camouflage is coming off and giving us a better look at the final design.

Previewed at last year’s Unstoppable Impulse event, the facelifted crossover follows in the footsteps of the Tavascan and has new headlights with triangular daytime running lights. While the grille appears similar to the current model, that’s a bit of misdirection as the Formentor will adopt a cheese grater aesthetic thanks to a massive intake with angular lines.

The latter will give the crossover a mutant Lexus vibe, but the rest of the model will be more evolutionary. In particular, we can expect updated taillights and a lightly revised liftgate. They’ll be joined by a more expressive rear bumper and relocated reflectors.

We haven’t gotten a look inside, so the extent of the changes remains unclear. However, we wouldn’t be surprised to find the usual tweaks as well as a new or updated infotainment system.

Performance changes also remain to be seen, but the current Formentor is offered with an assortment of powertrains including a 1.5-liter TSI four-cylinder with 148 hp (110 kW / 150 PS) and 184 lb-ft (250 Nm) of torque. Customers can also opt for a 2.0-liter TSI developing 188 hp (140 kW / 190 PS) and 236 lb-ft (320 Nm) of torque.

Cupra also offers a 2.0-liter TDI developing 148 hp (110 kW / 150 PS) and 251 lb-ft (340 Nm) of torque. Customers can also get a plug-in hybrid variant with 201 hp (150 kW / 204 PS) and an electric-only range of 36.7 miles (59 km).
