Inflation continues to rear its ugly head as Kia has announced the 2024 Sportage will cost $800 more than its predecessor.
That’s a sizable increase, but consumers will get more for their money as the crossover now comes standard with LED projection-style headlights and second-row airbags. Those aren’t the only changes as the SX AWD trim has been dropped, which means there’s no longer an all-wheel drive variant between the $31,890 Sportage X-Line and $36,090 Sportage X-Pro.
While the changes are minor, the 2024 Sportage LX starts at $27,090 and features LED lighting units, privacy glass, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Buyers will also find a 12.2-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. They’re joined by cloth seats, air conditioning, a six-speaker audio system, and a polyurethane steering wheel.

Despite its entry-level status, the Kia Sportage LX comes with a host of driver assistance systems including High-Beam Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning, and Forward Collision Avoidance Assist with car, pedestrian, and cyclist detection. The model also has cruise control, Lane Following Assist, and Parking Distance Warning – Reverse.
Buyers looking for more luxury can opt for the $34,590 Sportage SX Prestige, which comes nicely equipped with a power liftgate, a panoramic glass sunroof, and larger 19-inch wheels. The upgrades continue in the cabin with dual 12.3-inch displays as well as heated and ventilated SynTex front seats with power adjustment. Other highlights include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a dual-zone climate control system, a wireless smartphone charger, and a Harman Kardon premium audio system.
The SX Prestige is also more advanced as buyers will find Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Highway Driving Assist, Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance Assist, and a Blind View Monitor. They’re joined by Safe Exit Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance-Assist, and a Surround View Monitor.
Power is provided by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 187 hp (139 kW / 190 PS) and 178 lb-ft (241 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission, which can be paired to an optional all-wheel drive system.
Note: Prices exclude a $1,325 destination charge
