The Briggs Automotive Company (BAC) has announced that it will unveil a new version of its single-seater track toy, the Mono. The new model will reportedly be based on the high-performance R variant that earned a lap record at the Red Bull Ring in 2021.
The new model will be unveiled on Thursday, August 17 at the House of BAC in Carmel Valley, California, as part of the events surrounding Monterey Car Week. An organic ranch with a vineyard, the location is the perfect place to entertain the kind of well-heeled customers the brand no doubt wants to buy its new model.
Although the automaker hasn’t yet shared any details, Autocar reports that power will come from a modified out version of the Mono R’s 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. Already an impressive unit, the Mountune-made mill churns out 343 hp (347 PS/255 kW) in the R.

With the cylinders bored out and a new billet-aluminum crankshaft installed, the engine should be able to rev to 8,000 rpm, potentially allowing it to make more power. While it is unclear how the new model will be equipped, there isn’t much to the single-seat Mono, so it should weigh around the same amount as the R, which is just 1,223 lbs (555 kg).
That amounts to a stunning power-to-weight ratio and a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) time of just 2.5 seconds in the Mono R, which, in 2021, stole the lap record at Austria’s Red Bull Ring from the Ferrari LaFerrari, which is no slouch.
While little is known about the new model, BAC said that the car will offer a “new dimension” to its lineup as part of its “one-of-a-kind” philosophy. Although the track-oriented Mono is BAC’s only model, the company has aspiration of becoming a global “high-performance and ultra-luxury” brand under its new chairman, Mike Flewitt.
