In one fell swoop, Hyundai Motor America will introduce the 2024 Sonata and Elantra on August 30th.
The company is keeping details under wraps, but described the cars as a “dynamic duo” and said they will have a “bolder, more modern look plus state-of-the-art tech upgrades.”
That’s pretty vague, but there shouldn’t be any major surprises as the facelifted Sonata debuted at the Seoul Mobility Show earlier this year. As a result, we can expect a Sensuous Sportiness design that fixes the controversial looks of the current model.

The front end has been completely reimagined and features a Seamless Horizon Lamp that resides above a wide grille and low-mounted headlights. The rear end has also been revamped and features new H-lights that are designed to emphasize the Sonata’s “wide stance and high-tech character.”
Buyers looking for something sportier can opt for the Sonata N Line, which is distinguished by a unique grille and special 19-inch alloy wheels. The upgrades continue in the cabin with red contrast stitching and “cross-metal patterned garnishes.”
Speaking of the interior, the 2024 Sonata features a higher quality cabin with a more upscale design. Highlights include a new freestanding display that consists of a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a matching 12.3-inch infotainment system. The model also offers a 12-inch heads-up display, an upgraded 12-speaker Bose audio system, and NVH improvements.
We’ll learn US-specifications next week, but the sedan can be equipped with naturally-aspirated and turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engines overseas. The model also offers a hybridized 2.0-liter engine.
Like the Sonata, the 2024 Elantra won’t be much of a surprise as it has already been introduced in China and South Korea. The changes to the facelifted sedan are less extensive, but include a slimmer grille, a sportier front bumper, and new headlights. There are also a handful of relatively minor interior upgrades, although we’ll learn U.S. details soon enough.
