A special version of the ever-popular Land Rover Defender has just been unveiled at the ongoing Kitesurf World Cup 2023 in Sylt, Germany. The new model dubbed the Defender 90 Marine Blue Edition will be capped at just 25 units.
Each of the 25 models will be finished in the same Marine Blue paint that was used in classic Defenders produced across the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. The gorgeous shade of blue is then contrasted with a white roof, a roof rack, and a badge denoting it as ‘One of 25.’ Land Rover has also equipped the model with simple steel wheels with a white finish, adding to its rugged appearance.
A handful of distinctive touches have also been made to the interior of the Defender 90 Marine Blue Edition. Each model is based on the pre-existing SE trim level and includes eye-catching white contrasting elements on the steering wheel, the outer edges of the dashboard, and the door panels. It also features tan-colored leather on the seats, dashboard, door panels, and center console while a premium headliner has also been incorporated.
The Defender 90 Marine Blue Edition will be sold exclusively with the D250 powertrain. That means it has a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six diesel that delivers 245 hp (183 kW) at 4,000 rpm and (420 lb-ft) 570 Nm of torque between 1,250 rpm and 2,250 rpm. Those figures may pale in comparison to some other Defender options like the 394 hp (294 kW) P400 and the 518 hp (386 kW) P525 but will be more than enough for most shoppers.
Land Rover will only sell the limited-edition model in Germany, each with a starting price of €99,800 (~$108,000). The off-roader was unveiled at the Kitesurf World Cup because the Defender is serving as a major sponsor of the event.
