Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen recently picked up the keys to his new Aston Martin Valkyrie but according to reports, a video of him driving the car in France could land him in trouble with local police.
In the video, the Dutch racing driver can be seen traveling through the Canta-Galet tunnel on the A8 motorway between Marseille and Nice. A passenger filmed him behind the wheel and at one point, the digital speedometer in the center of the steering wheel can be seen displaying 124 km/h (77 mph). That could be an issue as it is understood that the tunnel has a 90 km/h (55 mph) speed limit.

NiceMartin reports that French police could pursue Verstappen because he is also seen sitting in the left lane during the video. If police do choose to take action, the most likely outcome is that Verstappen will be hit with a fine.
Details about the specific Aston Martin Valkyrie owned by Max Verstappen aren’t known. It’s safe to assume that he placed an order when the car was unveiled back in 2016 while still known as the AM-RB 001. Verstappen has been racing with the premiere Red Bull Racing team since 2016 and although RBR ended its F1 sponsorship deal with Aston Martin at the start of 2020 following Lawrence Stroll’s purchase of the British carmaker, Red Bull Advanced Technologies did continue to develop the Valkyrie alongside Aston Martin. Current Alpha Tauri driver and ex-Red Bull Racing driver Daniel Ricciardo also ordered a Valkyrie but it is unclear if he has taken delivery.
The Valkyrie isn’t special just because of its extreme design and focus on aerodynamics but also because of its engine. Found beneath the lightweight carbon fiber skin is a 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V12 from Cosworth that’s mated with an electric motor to deliver a combined 1,160 hp and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque.
