Mercedes says that it is now ready to roll out its automated parking technology to the all-electric EQE in Germany. Already available on the EQS and S-Class, the technology allows the vehicle to park itself without a driver in certain parking garages.
The system works by asking the driver to book a parking spot in a compatible parking garage by using their smart device. Once they roll up to the location, they can simply step out, and their EQE will go off and find its own parking spot.
That makes both driving around the garage searching for a spot and interacting with a valet unnecessary. Once the driver is ready to leave, they can simply beckon their car, and it will meet them at the entrance to the parking complex.

Mercedes calls the technology Level 4 autonomous in the specific context of compatible parking lots. That’s because the driver doesn’t need to be anywhere near the car for it to park, but it doesn’t just depend on the technology contained within the EQE. Sensors provided by Bosch also need to be installed in the parking garage in order for the technology to work.
The EQE sedan is just the latest Mercedes model to get the technology, which is officially called Intelligent Park Pilot. Available on the S-Class and EQS since 2022, Mercedes says it was the first company to receive approval for commercial use of such a highly automated parking function in Germany.
In addition to the all-electric EQE, Intelligent Park Pilot will also soon be available on the new E-Class, in addition to other models. Mercedes also offers parking assistance technology that can help take over some parking duties while the driver is behind the wheel, as well as when they are outside of the vehicle and monitoring the task with their smartphone. These functions are more widely available throughout the automaker’s range.
