The Nissan Fairlady Z Nismo might be the talk of the town but the automaker’s performance division has another ace up its sleeve. Nissan announced that a yet-unnamed Nismo-branded model will debut on August 8, revealing nothing more than its silhouette.
While the teaser doesn’t give away much, placing it on top of the Nissan Skyline sedan shows that the lines of the bonnet, windshield, and roofline are identical. This means that Nissan is likely cooking up a performance variant of the aging model.

The 14th generation of the Nissan Skyline, which is a twin to the Infiniti Q50, was originally introduced in Japan back in 2014, with subsequent facelifts in 2017 and in 2019. Currently, the most powerful variant of the sedan is the 400R, with the non-electrified twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 producing 400 hp (298 kW / 405 PS) and 475 Nm (350 lb-ft) of torque as in the Fairlady Z sportscar.
Reading between the lines, the automaker could upgrade the Skyline 400R with the tuned 3.0-liter V6 powertrain from the Fairlady Z Nismo which is good for 414 hp (309 kW / 420 PS) and 520 Nm (383.5 lb-ft) of torque. As in the sportscar, the increased power output in the sedan will be most likely combined with a sportier chassis setup and a revised bodykit with Nismo-specific details.
We will learn more about the latest Nismo product in three days, so stay tuned.
