As more and more footage of the production Tesla Cybertruck has made it to the public, we’ve gotten a better idea of its proportions. One notable revelation from this footage has been the snub-nose nature of the truck, which we can now see, has led to a very small frunk.
A recent TikTok video, posted by the user randomness2646 (mirror), shows what appear to be mostly completed Cybertrucks within Tesla’s Texas factory. With the hood open, we can see that the frunk is very small.
Large enough for a few grocery bags and maybe a backpack, but little more, the size may be evidence of less than optimal packaging for the truck. As one of a limited number of enclosed storage spaces in the vehicle, having such a small frunk could mean that owners have to make compromises in their day-to-day driving.

Although this is the first time we’ve seen the completed frunk with its liner, this isn’t the first evidence we’ve had that it would be small. Previous photos of the area without a liner suggested that there wasn’t much space up there, and shots of the truck driving on public roads revealed that it was snub-nosed.
While these photos point to packaging compromises—something no doubt exacerbated by the use of inflexible stainless steel body panels—it may not be a huge problem for Cybertruck buyers. We’ve already seen that there’s little die-hard Tesla fans won’t put up with, and the new vehicle’s positioning as an off-beat option, rather than a true competitor with Detroit’s well-established pickups, mean that customers are likely to be willing to put with some inconvenience in exchange for novelty.
Drone footage of the truck charging next to a Model Y outside Tesla’s factory do reveal the extent of the packaging strangeness, though. The shot shows the massive expanse of dashboard leading from the steering wheel to the start of the frunk lid.
All told, the space is roughly the size of the Model Y’s hood, and is no doubt necessitated by the angle of the A-pillar. Fortunately, the photo does also reveal that the Cybertruck will be rather large, as is to be expected from American pickups, and which may help remedy some packaging issues.
