This story includes speculative renderings of a Land Cruiser pickup which are not related to nor endorsed by Toyota.
Toyota recently revealed the all-new 2024 Land Cruiser 250 Series, together with the facelifted version of the nearly 40-year-old 70 Series. The latter is also available in dual-cab pickup form, which inspired digital artist Theottle to imagine a truck version of the all-new LC.
The designer extended the wheelbase and the rear overhang of the SUV, in order to combine a five-seater cabin with a proper rear bed. The entire front section is carried over, as with the original LEDs on the redesigned tail. The license plate had to move to the rear bumper, while a step was added below the custom tailgate. The only thing we would add to this rendering is a slightly thicker C-pillar.

The ladder-frame underpinnings of the Land Cruiser makes it a great base for a truck. Toyota would never offer an LC with a bed in North America as this would probably steal valuable sales from the Tacoma midsize pickup, but we are positive there would be a lot of people interested in buying it. The hypothetical model could also get a Lexus GX-based twin pickup as proposed by Theottle only a few weeks ago.
Toyota hasn’t shared any future plans of offering additional body styles of the new Land Cruiser, but that hasn’t stopped fans from wanting them. In that context and judging from the promising looks of the rendering, we wouldn’t be surprised if it inspires pickup conversions from independent companies, as with the larger 300 Series.
Theottle also rendered the Land Cruiser with a two-door convertible bodystyle, creating a fitting rival to the Ford Bronco and Jeep Wrangler. Should Toyota offer an extended family of Land Cruisers?
