VinFast’s electric vehicle push is kicking into high gear as the company has revealed EPA ranges for the VF 9.
The VF 9 Eco starts at $83,000 and will have a range of 330 miles (531 km). Customers can also get a more luxurious VF 9 Plus for $91,000 although it has a less impressive range of 291 miles (468 km).
U.S. deliveries are slated to begin in the fourth quarter of this year and both trims have a 123 kWh battery pack, which powers a dual motor all-wheel drive system developing 402 hp (300 kW / 408 PS) and 457 lb-ft (620 Nm) of torque. This should enable the VF 9 to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in approximately 6.5 seconds.

The Pininfarina-designed crossover comes standard with 20-inch wheels, while the VF 9 Plus sports 21-inchers. This likely helps to explain the drop in range and it’s worth noting the Plus variant can also be equipped with optional 22-inch wheels.
The VF 9 measures 201.4 inches (5,118 mm) long and has a wheelbase spanning 124 inches (3,150 mm). As a result, the model effectively slots between the Mercedes EQS SUV and Tesla Model X. The former measures 201.9 inches (5,128 mm) long and has a 126.4 inch (3,211 mm) wheelbase, while the latter is 199.1 inches (5,057 mm) long with 116.7 inches (2,965 mm) between the wheels.
We’ll learn full details closer to launch, but VinFast says the seven-seat VF 9 Eco will come equipped with leatherette upholstery, a dual-zone climate control system, a 13-speaker audio system, and a 15.6-inch infotainment system. The Plus variant adds fancier front seats, “vegan leather” upholstery, a tri-zone climate control system, a panoramic glass roof, an 8-inch rear display, and available second-row captain chairs.
Pricing is ambitious as the Tesla Model X Standard Range Dual Motor starts at $88,490 and is significantly quicker as it can accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 4.4 seconds. However, it does have a shorter range of approximately 269 miles (433 km). That being said, the ‘Long Range’ variant starts at $98,490 and can travel 348 miles (560 km) on a single charge.
